ZYN vs Lucy: Comparing the Flavors Catalogue

If we start off by comparing the flavors from Lucy vs ZYN, ZYN has the advantage of numbers. The ZYN flavor range has 10 different flavors in the U.S., compared to 5 flavors of Lucy pouches (even if we include the flavors in the Lucy Breakers range as well as Lucy slim).

ZYN in their range of U.S. pouches offers the full selection of classic flavors: including a variety of mints, citrus, coffee and cinnamon flavored nicotine pouches. However, Lucy has a much more unique and diverse flavor range that not only includes the classic fruit and mint flavors, but also more unique combinations such as cinnamon as well as apple ice (a combination of apple cider paired with a chilling mint flavor).

All flavors of ZYN and Lucy pouches are available in all strength options in their range- so that is an added bonus in the lineup of Lucy vs ZYN.

Overview: ZYN’s flavor range is slightly larger than Lucy’s, but ZYN flavors focus more on classic nicotine pouch flavors whereas Lucy focuses more on fun and innovative flavors.

ZYN vs Lucy: Comparing Nicotine Strength Options

When comparing the nicotine strengths of ZYN vs Lucy, both start on a solid foot with ZYN having 2 nicotine strength options and Lucy taking the lead with 3 nicotine strength options. However, both brands have a different set of strengths available in their selection.

All ZYN pouches come in 2 nicotine strength options: ZYN 3mg or ZYN 6mg. Each round can of ZYN contains 15 pouches, and each pouch contains either 3mg or 6mg of nicotine depending on which strength you choose. All flavors in the ZYN range are available in both nicotine strengths, which gives the pouch user more flexibility.

If we compare this to the nicotine strengths offered by Lucy, the Lucy range has a slightly wider range of strength options, with 3 different nicotine strength options on offer: 4mg, 8mg and 12mg. Whether you choose Lucy breakers or slim pouch range, all cans come with 15 pouches. The only negative is that not all Lucy flavors are available in all nicotine strengths Lucy has to offer, but some flavors have the entire strength range.

Overview: The best in the nicotine strength category when you compare Lucy vs ZYN will depend on your strength preferences. If are ranking based on who has the strongest pouch, Lucy will win (with a max pouch strength of 12mg) vs ZYN (with a max pouch strength of 6mg). However, if you are ranking based on who has the least intense nicotine strength in their range, ZYN will win (with a 3mg nicotine strength option) vs Lucy (with the lowest nicotine strength in their range being 4mg).

However, the fact that all ZYN flavors are available in the full range of strengths gives them a bonus!

ZYN vs Lucy: Reviewing the Overall Pouch Experience

ZYN pouches are known for their strong aroma when you open the can and the aligned experience: with the flavor and aroma matching up. Each ZYN pouch is dry, which means there is basically no dripping when you use these pouches. From a single pouch, we have got around 30 minutes of flavor and effect on average.

If we compare this to Lucy Slim pouches (which are the most similar pouches in the Lucy range - which will make for a fair comparison), these pouches are more moist that ZYN pouches. This means they are a little more comfortable to park, but are slightly different to the typical American dry pouch experience. When testing flavor release, we found that it lasts about 35 minutes or so - a little longer than ZYN pouches.

However, for overall experience, the most unique experience comes from the Lucy Breakers pouches. These pouches are definitely more moist, with a little breaker capsule containing flavored liquid to add to the flavor experience and soften the pouch up - which is a first of its kind in the nicotine pouch space in the U.S.

Overview: Lucy has the upper hand in terms of range of products, as they cater to different pouch users and have a longer average release time. However, if you prefer a classic American nicotine pouch that is on the drier side, then ZYN is the best choice. If you want to know more about ZYN, check out our ZYN flavor review guide to see what our experts have to say.

ZYN vs Lucy: Final Remarks

While both Lucy and ZYN are nicotine pouch brands with some overarching similarities (such as cost and number of pouches per can), they could not be more different.

Lucy is definitely made for the more adventurous nicotine pouch user who likes bold flavors and is prepared to experiment with new pouches, compared to ZYN which is for the pouch user who wants a more classic experience.

If you are trying to work out which pouches are best for you from ZYN vs Lucy, consider how soft you like the pouch to be, and what flavors or experience you want from the pouch  - this will help you make the tough choice between Lucy and ZYN pouches.
